“Petal Cascade” – A Handpainted Decorative Ceramic Tile by Anna Tsetsos
Original 1910 Roof Tile | Antique Ceramic | Handpainted Floral Symphony
Petal Cascade is a rhythmic tribute to beauty in repetition—an ode to blooms that never fade. Crafted by Anna Tsetsos, this ceramic tile, repurposed from a 1910 rooftop tile salvaged from her grandmother’s home, transforms a piece of architectural history into a garden of enduring grace.
The artwork features a symmetrical array of delicate handpainted roses in soft shades of pink, peach, cream, and lavender, each flower radiating from a deep black backdrop like blossoms at dusk. The vertical composition creates a sense of movement—as though the flowers are gently cascading down a garden wall, led by memory and touched by time.
Every rose is unique, painted with fine, loving detail, and yet together they form a unified floral tapestry, speaking to the artist’s reverence for both pattern and imperfection. The tile’s curved form and weathered texture further enrich the tactile story—an echo of old rooftops, sunlit afternoons, and ancestral roots.
“It’s a dance of petals,” the artist shares, “each brushstroke a soft footfall on the path between memory and bloom.”
